Lou recently spoke with Nic Rapold of the Wall Street Journal about his film, Red Shirley, which is being screened tomorrow, January 15th at the New York Jewish Film Festival. The interview ran on the front page of the Greater New York section of the Wall Street Journal this past Tuesday, January 11th. Check out the terrific article HERE
Lou’s short film, Red Shirley, will have its New York premiere this weekend at the New York Jewish Film Festival. The 28-minute documentary about Lou’s cousin, Shirley, will be screened on Saturday January 15th at 9:15pm at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Lou and photographer, Ralph Gibson.

Lou’s film, Red Shirley, is going to be shown at this year’s Sundance Festival in Park City, Utah. The screening will take place on Monday January 24th at 8:45pm at Holiday Village, Cinema III – 1776 Park Avenue in Park City. Director, Luc Besson’s, film ‘Arthur and the Great Adventure’ will be released tomorrow, December 24th in the UK. The film is a follow up to his 2006 film ‘Arthur and the Invisibles’ and features Lou as the voice of the evil Emperor Maltazard. Other characters in the film are voiced by Stacy Ferguson, Mia Farrow, Will.I.Am, and Jimmy Fallon. The film hits U.S. theaters in the spring of 2011. For more info, go HERE
Montreal Documentary Film Festival (RIDM) was recently treated to Red Shirley. On November 15th, Lou’s short film, Red Shirley, a documentary about Lou’s cousin, Shirley, was screened at RIDM. The film was followed by a Q & A session with Lou and cinematographer, Ralph Gibson. Check out some photos from the screening in the PICTURES section of the site.
This February Lou and Laurie Anderson will be curating the month’s events at the Stone in the East Village in New York. The Stone is a not-for-profit performance space dedicated to the experimental and avant-garde, located on the corner of Avenue C and 2nd Street in Manhattan. The artistic director of the Stone is Lou’s good friend and fellow musician, John Zorn.
John Zorn, Bill Laswell, Hal Wilner, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Eyvind Kang, Sean Lennon, Rob Burger, Marc Ribot, Rob Wasserman, Colin Stetson and many others are scheduled to perform in February. On Tuesday February 15th, Lou and Laurie will perform together with an opening set by Buke & Gass.
