Red Shirley plays at Sundance!

Lou voices Arthur character

PhotobucketDirector, Luc Besson’s, film ‘Arthur and the Great Adventure’ will be released tomorrow, December 24th in the UK. The film is a follow up to his 2006 film ‘Arthur and the Invisibles’ and features Lou as the voice of the evil Emperor Maltazard. Other characters in the film are voiced by Stacy Ferguson, Mia Farrow, Will.I.Am, and Jimmy Fallon. The film hits U.S. theaters in the spring of 2011. For more info, go HERE

Red Shirley @ Montreal

PhotobucketMontreal Documentary Film Festival (RIDM) was recently treated to Red Shirley. On November 15th, Lou’s short film, Red Shirley, a documentary about Lou’s cousin, Shirley, was screened at RIDM. The film was followed by a Q & A session with Lou and cinematographer, Ralph Gibson. Lou & Laurie curate The Stone

This February Lou and Laurie Anderson will be curating the month’s events at the Stone in the East Village in New York. The Stone is a not-for-profit performance space dedicated to the experimental and avant-garde, located on the corner of Avenue C and 2nd Street in Manhattan. The artistic director of the Stone is Lou’s good friend and fellow musician, John Zorn.

John Zorn, Bill Laswell, Hal Wilner, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Eyvind Kang, Sean Lennon, Rob Burger, Marc Ribot, Rob Wasserman, Colin Stetson and many others are scheduled to perform in February. On Tuesday February 15th, Lou and Laurie will perform together with an opening set by Buke & Gass.

Lou visits NYPL

PhotobucketEarlier this week Lou was invited to be featured in the centennial celebration for the New York Public Library. Lou was photographed looking at artifacts of one of his favorite authors, Edgar Allen Poe, which are housed at the NYPL.

Susan Boyle #1 w/ Perfect Day

Susan Boyle’s 2nd album, The Gift, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week. The first single from this album is Susan’s cover of Lou’s song, “Perfect Day” for which Lou collaborated with Susan to make the stunning music video. The Gift sold 318,000 copies in the first week in the U.S.

Lou to be inducted in LI Hall of Fame

This Tuesday, November 16th, the Long Island Music Hall Of Fame will proudly induct Lou at their Third Induction Gala at Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY. This honor will be bestowed upon Lou based on his influential career that has spanned over 4 decades.

In addition to being an inductee, Lou will induct his good friend, saxophonist, John Zorn.

Other 2010 inductees include folk singer Oscar Brand, jazz vibraphonist Teddy Charles, heavy metal band Dream Theater, hip-hop performers Erik B. and Rakim, music photographer Bob Gruen, rock keyboardist Al Kooper, jazz drummer Roy Haynes, gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, and oldies girl-group The Shangri Las.

Congratulatations to Master Ren GuangYi on being named Inside Kung Fu Magazine’s 2011 Hall of Fame “Instructor of the Year”.
