Lulu opens in Berlin

PhotobucketLou and Robert Wilson’s collaboration, Lulu, opened to rave reviews last night, April 12th, at the Berliner Ensemble in Berlin, Germany. Avant-garde director, Wilson takes on Frank Wedekind’s Lulu, which traces the rise and fall of the femme fatale, with music and songs by Lou.
Lulu is playing April 13 & 14, May 1, 2 & 31, and June 1 & 2, with additional dates to be announced soon.
Berliner Ensemble is at Bertolt-Brecht-Platz 1, 10117 Berlin

To Japan With Love

For Japan with LoveLast Tuesday March 29th, Lou performed at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City for ‘Yoko Ono & Friends To Japan With Love’. The benefit raised over $71,000 for Japan relief efforts and featured performances by Cibo Mato, Sean Lennon, Antony Hegarty, Patti Smith, and of course, Yoko Ono. Lou in T Magazine

Lou was featured in this week’s New York Times T Magazine in a fashion spread called, “Ballad of a Thin Man – Godfathers of Glam Who Can Still Rock a Skinny Suit”. The photo spread also includes fellow rockers Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Dave Gahan, Ray Davies, Bryan Ferry, Michael Stipe, David Johansen, and John Doe.
Lou’s song “Power of the Heart” streams next to his photo, in which he rocks a Rick Owens suit.

PhotobucketLou’s short film, Red Shirley, will have its New York premiere this weekend at the New York Jewish Film Festival. The 28-minute documentary about Lou’s cousin, Shirley, will be screened on Saturday January 15th at 9:15pm at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Lou and photographer, Ralph Gibson.
